Brisbane rallies for refugees

Hundreds of angry Australians protested against the Abbot regime today, demanding justice for Reza Berati, a 24 year-old Kurdish refugee who was murdered at Australia’s Manus island detention centre. Temporary closure for Northey Street community garden

Brisbane City Council has advised that the Northey Street community garden site at Windsor has been temporarily closed to the public, effective immediately, following the discovery of demolition waste during a Council inspection of the site related to the proposed development of new facilities on the site. Council will now be undertaking further investigations to determine the future management of the site. The results of the investigations will determine if there are any impacts.
