POLITICS IN THE PUB TONIGHT!

West End Community Association and Westender Community Newspaper are putting on a  Meet The Candidates Community Forum tonight, where all four declared candidates for The Gabba Ward in the March 19 City Council elections will appear in person to debate policy and answer questions from the audience.

The event will be held upstairs at The Loft, 100 Boundary Street, West End, at 6.30 pm tonight, Wednesday 10th February 2016. Doors open at 6 pm.

For those who can’t make it in person, we're going to be providing a live videocast of tonight's using Periscope. There will be a link to the event on the Twitter feed at https://twitter.com/WECA4101 when we kick off. ‪#‎bccvotes

Westender publisher Kerrod Trott said the paper had a tradition of hosting Meet The Candidate forums, where locals could meet face to face with candidates, and make their voting decisions based on a personal appraisal. “We take our politics seriously in West End,” said Mr Trott, “and some of our meetings have been very fiery indeed.”

West End Community Association President Dr Erin Evans said the local community was facing unprecedented population growth and rapid redevelopment, and that candidates for Council needed to make their positions clear on the contentious issues affecting the local community.
