Coochiemudlo Island Mangrove Festival

July 16

Coochiemudlo Island has one of Moreton Bay’s finest mangrove forests. These amazing trees play a vital role in the well-being of our planet, and inspire the annual Mangrove Festival organised by the island’s Heritage Society. This year it’s on Saturday July 16th – a great opportunity to explore the mangrove forest on self-guided walks and boat rides.

Coochiemudlo’s artists will be exhibiting original images and crafts inspired by mangroves and the marine diversity they nurture. There’s live music, expert ecologists to learn from, and a First Australian perspective on an island Quandamooka have frequented for thousands of years. Three cafes will be open, and great Thai takeaway’s available too. SMBI Coastcare will have their mangrove drone on display, and there’s a photo competition with island BnB stays to be won.

Catch the ferry from the Victoria Point jetty and arrive 10 minutes later for a day of mangrove magic, art and culture, on the patch of paradise that’s Coochiemudlo.
