West End Sessions go Bluegrass!

Get set for some foot-tapping, finger-picking bluegrass music at its best when the West End Sessions present the Brisbane (fringe) Bluegrass Festival next month. The West End Sessions is a Brisbane concert series featuring folk, blues, jazz, world and acoustic music, in the fabulous acoustics of the heritage-listed Uniting Church in West End. Brisbane City Council’s decision to approve a major residential development on Montague Road has quickly attracted strong criticism from the community, with the West End Community Association calling the decision “a betrayal of residents’. More than 1300 people have objected to the proposed expansion of New Hope’s Acland mine earmarked for important farmland at the Darling Downs. Submissions close today for the Environmental Assessment and the Mining Lease for the controversial project.
