More demolition at West Village site

Demolition of the 1970’s administration building at 93 Boundary St, West End, has commenced. This demolition is associated with the West Village development and is scheduled to be completed by 29 September. The works are being undertaken under the West Village preliminary approval as part of the program to deliver the Boundary Street Common (public open space). Once the demolition is complete, the 1927 Peters Ice Cream Factory will be visible from Boundary Street for the first time in more than 40 years. Rainbow path set to brighten up West End

Vulture Street in West End is now a little brighter, after hundreds turned out to paint rainbows on a council footpath to show support for the legalisation of same-sex marriage. Organised by Brisbane Greens councillor Jonathan Sri, the aim of the initiative was to send a positive message about the LGBT community, all while bringing a bit of colour to a busy intersection. New look $10 note hits our pockets

A new $10 banknote has entered general circulation, following the release of the new $5 banknote last year. The Governor, Philip Lowe, said: ‘The launch of the new $10 banknote is a milestone in our program to deliver Australians banknotes at the cutting edge in terms of security against counterfeiting.
