The Brisbane Festival in September will offer over 2000 performances, 1000 individual shows, and cover the entire city. 40% of events will be free. The Festival will take over the walking bridges: Goodwill, Neville Bonner, and Kangaroo Point Bridges.

Nunukul and Munaldjali man Stephen Page and Daly River man Jacob Nash are collaborating to bring Baleen Moondjan to the Brisbane River, aka Maiwar. It premiered at the Adelaide Fringe. But this performance will be bigger and better, especially with the Nunukul and Munaldjali mob able to attend. The program enables the former Artistic Director and the Designer of Bangarra to bring the songlines, singers, and dancers to the Festival to share stories with their families. The people of Brisbane / Meanjin can view Baleen Moondjan being performed on a 50-metre structure in the river. Think about where you will stake your claim so you can view it. Start planning.

Laura Murphy is bringing her reimagined Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” to a 2025 audience. “Lovers” will introduce us to the play through a pop lens. She brings the relationships in the play to life with songs in language that’s meaningful in 2025. Loren Hunter, an Australian actor, singer, and dancer, teams up with Mat Verevis, an Australian singer, actor, and songwriter, to play Hermia and Lysandra, two young lovers in the play. There are four lovers in all, hence the name “Lovers”. Heidi McGuire is the play’s musical director.
