Want to introduce the kids to the magic of live theatre for a change? Here’s an idea …
It should be something fun – of course.
It should involve the whole family – of course.
It shouldn’t cost a fortune – of course.
It should be to see The Happy Prince – of course!
Want to know more? – Of course!
A cheeky, lively Swallow on her way to Egypt meets the golden statue of a Prince. The Prince is decorated with jewels and gold, but tears are falling from his sapphire eyes – he can see all the misery in his city and can do nothing to help.
Toy Soldier Children’s Theatre in association with the 2015 Anywhere Festival and The State Library of Queensland present The Happy Prince; a touching story of two unlikely friends – a Swallow and a golden statue, who, together turn the city gold.
“This lovely little show is a gentle treasure.” – Kimberley Shaw, Stage Whispers.
Based on Oscar Wilde’s much-loved story, this performance is fresh from the stages of Perth and ready to entertain Brisbane’s children (and adults who bring along their inner child)!
“I’ve loved this story from the first time my Mum read it to me when I was maybe 5 or 6. It’s beautiful and fun and also, incredibly sad. But I loved it, and I still do and I cannot wait to bring this tale to life for Brisbane!” – Courtney Turner, director.
The Happy Prince is the perfect show to introduce your children to theatre, especially if they are a bit scared of the dark, big crowds or suffer a little from short attention spans. The Happy Prince is fast paced and has plenty of interaction to keep everyone involved and engaged.
