Calling all artists, local businesses, community organisations and local residents … it’s time to submit an event to the West End Festival Program.
The 2015 call for Program Proposals opened on Monday September 7. This year organisers are asking for submissions of events, happenings and ideas rather than submissions from individual artists. However, if you are a performer or artist and you’d like to be considered as an entertainer for this year’s street party events, please send a brief bio and a link to your work to westendfestival4101@gmail.com
All Program Proposals must be submitted via our online form at http://westendfestival.com.au/call-for-artists/. This form takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
The 2015 program will explore five key themes:
Public Space: Activating public spaces, engaging with public spaces and advocating for public spaces;
Local Retail: How we can support and celebrate our local small businesses;
Ideas and Hope for the Future: In the face of rapid and large-scale change, what is important about our community and what do we want the future to look like? How can we learn from other locations around the world?
Showcasing What We Have: The people, art, businesses, ideas and practices that make 4101 special.
Participation in Community Life: How can we bring people together to create an exciting and engaging program.
The Festival will be officially opened with the Kurilpa Derby on Sunday October 25 and continue as a week-long program of “happenings” across artforms and including films, street walks, parades, street parties, forums and a free community feast. The Festival closing party will be Fiesta Latina on Day of the Dead, Saturday October 31.
