Two Indian students have been selected as official Brisbane International Student Ambassadors, along with 27 students from 21 nationalities.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman officially announced the students at the induction ceremony held in Brisbane in April.
The 29 Ambassadors were selected by Brisbane Marketing’s Study Brisbane program, a city-wide initiative aim to advance the development of the city’s international student market. The Ambassadors principal role is to promote Brisbane as an international student destination to their friends and family at home by communicating their personal experiences.
Nitin Singhal, one of the Indian students said at the induction ceremony, “Brisbane is a peaceful, calm and relaxed city and I’m excited to be able to promote this place it to my friends and family.â€
“After living in Brisbane for 6 months, I’m confident that I made the right decision to study here over other cities. Brisbane provides a friendly and relaxed environment, as well as world-class education facilities and a great lifestyle,†Nitin said.
“I would like to get in touch with all those aspiring students from India who has the potential to study overseas, but are held back from fear and lack of knowledge, and show them the real world.â€
The 29 Ambassadors represent Brisbane’s largest source markets, including China, Korea, India and USA. The students are aged between 21 and 34, and are studying a wide range of education courses in Brisbane including marketing, business, nursing, engineering and medicine.
The Ambassadors will perform a variety of activities to communicate their experiences, including actively using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media sites; blogging, www.studybrisbane.com; as well as participating in media interviews, official delegations and hosting media famils.
