Community reuse centre, Reverse Garbage, will celebrate the opening of their new warehouse at 20 Burke St, Woolloongabba with a family fun day on Saturday the 26th February.

The day will feature free eco-arts workshops for children in Reverse Garbage’s new environmental education facility and hourly tours of the new warehouse featuring interesting facts about the materials available and an overview of the new warehouse layout.

Friends of the Earth will be holding a veggie sausage sizzle to raise funds renovate their new office, located upstairs from Reverse Garbage.

“It’s set to be a really fun day” promises Reverse Garbage co-director Eleanor Smith, “We’re looking forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with all our loyal customers, new neighbors and plenty new friends!”

“We’re really excited about the move to the bigger warehouse at 20 Burke St, Woolloongabba. It will allow us to expand all our activities, including accommodating whole classes for environmental education workshops on site” said Ms Smith

The new warehouse will be open from the 21st of February. It will feature a new improved gift shop selling art, jewellery and homewares ‘up-cycled’ from salvaged materials; a dedicated environmental education centre, and; a larger warehouse selling industrial discards for creative reuse.

“All of the expansions essentially mean we can do even more to promote re-use and environmental sustainability in Brisbane and that’s what we’re here for!” said Ms Smith.

The opening celebration will be from 9am to 5pm on Saturday the 26th of February. This is a free event and everyone is welcome.

Reverse Garbage is a not for profit re-use centre that collects industrial discards from businesses around Brisbane making them available for creative re-use in the community. They were founded to support the work of Friend of the Earth Brisbane and have been operating for 12 year. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.
