Sir Tim Berners-Lee is coming to Australia for the first time in over a decade from January 27th -February 5th on a three city tour.

Sir Tim Berners-Lee will give talks in Melbourne, Sydney and on the Gold Coast

This tour was initiated with a request from the Linux.conf.au to have Sir Tim Berners-Lee as the keynote presenter at their conference on Thursday 31st January 2013, in Canberra. This will be his first visit in over a decade and he is delighted to accept the invitation primarily because it will support the awareness of the Web throughout the community, business, government and the whole of society.

This is not your typical celebrity tour, it will consist of a series of events over 8 days comprising of private corporate events and public open-university hosted events which will be free to the public.

Topic: Open data and innovation: open data and the benefits to society, the importance of open and transparent government and how to go about doing open data in a sustainable way, including engagement with the public and community development around open data.
