The Affordable Art Fair has, once again, come to Brisbane.
Art is on steroids at the RNA Showgrounds in Gregory Terrace. Stalls of individual galleries or artists are set up in the RNA’s vast exhibition building. Entrance is via a fee of $28 for adults, $21 for concession holders, and children under 16, entering with a fee-paying adult, are free.
Once inside, it’s a smorgasbord of visual art.
Rachel Burke’s creations pop. Smiles erupt from tired city dwellers in the presence of her art.
New Zealand artists bring an audacity to the Fair. Heath Ledger taunts us as we stroll down one lane.
Sydney and Melbourne Galleries have brought their wares to be exposed to the risk of sale to Brisbane art lovers.
Kiama and Wollongong Galleries were exhibiting.
The Gold Coast sent up their offerings.
Over forty galleries, including many from Brisbane, were represented.
Enter the buzz. Chat to artists about their work. Hear their stories. Grab a glass of champagne. Make yourselves at home. It’s fun in the exhibition hall.
There is something for everyone. Plenty of art was priced under $1000, with some First Nations’ creations under $100. If you want a piece of art to impress your family and friends, you can spend up to $10,000.
There is something for everyone. Wander the halls with a glass in hand. Watch some artists create with paint and brushes. Let the kids get their faces painted for free. Walk around the large-scale sculptures. Pick up a dog made by First Nations’ artists. There are workshops and, most importantly, free wrapping for the treasure you take home.
Grab a table at the café. Parking is available across the road.
Come to the Fair at the RNA Showgrounds on Friday 9th May (11 am – 2 pm and again from 4 – 7 pm), Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May between 10 am and 3 pm.
