Greens candidate for South Brisbane

The Queensland Greens have announced Amy MacMahon as their candidate for the seat of South Brisbane in the upcoming State Election. Ms. MacMahon is a social scientist and community worker who specialises in social research and community development. The Palaszczuk Government today announced the approval of the $800 million West Village development on the Absoe site in West End. In an apparent attempt to wedge the Labor Deputy Premier and local member for South Brisbane, the Hon Jackie Trad, yesterday’s Sunday Mail features a banner headline ”Brisbane $800m West Village to be approved” a full four days before the decision is due to be announced. AWARD DEMANDS ACTION IN GREENING WEST END

Last week the Green Space Strategy for 4101 was recognised nationally at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects. The Award for Communities went to local West End Landscape Architects John Mongard, Gavin Hardy, Alvin Kirby and Michelle Kirby-Brown who developed the strategy in conjunction with a number of other volunteer landscape architects and with the West End Community Association, Kurilpa Futures and Transition Kurilpa.
