Using the most intangible of materials – light and air – Brisbane’s historic Spring Hill Reservoir and the Queen Street Mall will be transformed in September and October with two new ephemeral art installations curated by McCarthy-Swann Projects – The Weight of Light and The Size of Air. TOMBSTONE FOLK AT LOCAL CEMETERY

The Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery (FOSBC) will host the first-ever folk music evening at the historic cemetery in September. ‘Tombstone Folk’ will feature sets from Luan Baldwin (singer-songwriter), and Shawn Riley (recorder) and Helena Bond (singer). The FOSBC will be hosting a cemetery night tour afterwards ($10 per head). Yemen’s cholera catastrophe – Oxfam calls for help

Yemenis, already struggling to survive after more than two years of war, are now being forced to choose between treating cholera and putting food on their tables, said Oxfam in a new report published today. For the report, entitled Yemen: Catastrophic Cholera Crisis, Oxfam has spoken to many families who have to rely on selling their personal belongings or going into debt to buy food or pay for cholera treatment.
