canawardsDo you know a local community hero? The New Farm Neighbourhood Centre is holdibg its Community Action Network Awards next month, and are looking for nominations from the public.

The CAN (Community Action Network) Awards recognise and celebrate the people, businesses and community groups working to make a positive change in the inner city of Brisbane.

Anyone can make a nomination and winners are decided by a panel of independent community leaders.

The Awards night will be opened by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk at the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre at 5pm Thursday July 9 and everyone is welcome to attend. Nominations close 5pm Friday June 26.

This award recognizes outstanding achievement in improving the lives of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples in the areas of health, education, housing or community access.

LGBTIQ
An award celebrating the leaders and helpers in our inner city Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) community.
