On May 3rd community development workers Julia and Christel from the West End Community House will be riding around Brisbane as part of the Great Brisbane Bike Ride, to raise much needed funds for Community Plus+.
Community Plus+ is a community development organisation working across Brisbane’s inner South, and which includes the West End Community House, Annerley Community Hub and the Yeronga Community Centre.
“We are so lucky to be working with the people of West End, there is so much diversity and enthusiasm to keep creating and developing a more resilient and even more vibrant West End,” says Christel.
“Community Plus provides much needed support to the communities of Brisbane’s inner South. But with changing government funding arrangements our ability to continue to provide the level of support required by our most vulnerable community members is at risk. This fundraiser will enable us to continue with some great community driven initiatives over the next year,” said Julia.
It will be the first time either Christel or Julia have participated in this event, and have been putting in early morning river loops to prepare for and survive the Mt Cootha Challenge, which forms part of the ride.
