Local community group Micah Projects to take part in a landmark national study of experiences in care. The Long-term Outcomes of Forgotten Australians Study (LOFA) research project funded by the Australian Research Council wants to hear from adult survivors of Australian childhood institutions or Out of Home Care, who were in care during the period 1930-1989. This is the first national research study to examine the range of experiences – both good and bad – that children had while ‘in care’ in that time period. Digital distraction a killer

New QUT study shows pedestrians often experience near-misses when crossing the road. Talking and walking is as dangerous as dialing and driving, with road safety researchers concerned that pedestrians are risking their lives by using mobile phones when crossing the road. Preliminary results from a QUT study looking at pedestrian smart phone use while crossing the road showed 30 per cent of people admitted having a near-miss with a car or other vehicle and 15 per cent blamed their phone distraction.
