Here’s another typically quirky update from Urban Utilities on the Mollison St tunneling project.
Good afternoon Westenders!
With Riverfire fast approaching we are lighting up your week with a crack-a-jack program.
With our underground tunnelling festival complete (yes the boring bit is finally over he he), it’s time to light up the skyline (well ground anyway) with the next part of our West End ‘roadshow’.
This week’s pyrotechnical Story Bridge is as follows:
- Creating more viewing space in the area in front of Coles (see photo) as we complete pipe laying ahead of filling in the shaft, covering it with comfy new bitumen to stand on and returning the bus stop to its former position (approximately two weeks)
- Reigniting works to complete pipe laying between 26 &30 Mollison Street (see photo) and Monty’s Spare Parts so we can spark the beginning of works to reopen the street and footpath in time for our grand finale. (approximately four weeks)
- Our program finale, the nightly return of our non-explosive symphony, ‘Nightmare on Boundary Street’ will remain on hold (no longer scheduled for Tuesday, 30 September 2014) until we have the extra viewing space to accommodate fans. We will let you know when the fireworks (from the welder of course) will be held for the gas relocation and completion of the sewer maintenance hole in the middle of the intersection.
Get your party poppers and sparklers ready and enjoy the fireworks
