A Community Forum to discuss the proliferation of licensed venues in West End

Tuesday 8th December 2015
6.00 pm for 6.30 pm
West End Uniting Church
Cnr Vulture & Sussex Streets West End

Drunken brawls, unruly patrons, petty crime and casual vandalism – is this what we want in West End?

West End Community Association and the Westender community newspaper present another Politics (but definitely not!) In The Pub Community Forum on the hot topic of licensed venues in the neighbourhood, and West End’s growing reputation as an entertainment destination.

At a rough count, there are fifteen licensed venues operating along Boundary Street between Melbourne Street and Vulture Street, with even more planned.

How do licensed businesses coexist peacefully and constructively in our neighbourhood, our home? As a community we want a relationship with these businesses based on the values of respect and diversity.

We’ve invited representatives from a number of relevant organisations, as well as community members and political representatives, to come and explain just how bad the problems are and what can be done .

Among those attending are:
Queensland Police Service
West End Liquor Accord (representing local licensed venues)
Dept of Licensing and Gaming Regulation
Cr Helen Abrahams, Councillor for The Gabba Ward

This will be an alcohol-free event. All are welcome to attend. Come and have your say.
