South Bank based Thai restaurant, P’Nut Street Noodles contacted The Westender about its approach to the Covid19 restrictions. We hope that their answers to our questions may assist customers of take-away where-ever that may be.

What information support are delivery riders getting? Are customers treating them well? Are they taught safe food handling?

We’ve set up our own P’Nut delivery service for the Windsor and Bulimba restaurants in order to support jobs and our current staff member’s positions.
Having our own staff deliver also allows us to implement thorough training on health and safety.

Our staff are like our family and we have many loyal guests who are like friends, so it is a good relationship. Most customers are respectful and understanding, allowing our staff to practice safe social distancing when delivering orders.

We also take orders through Deliveroo, UberEats and Menulog, who execute their own staff training and responses to the current environment. Delivery partners have also created new methods to ensure guest health and safety, for example, contactless delivery.

What advice are restaurants being given by health authorities about the safe preparation and handling of food? How can you assure customers that your food is safe?

P’Nut Street Noodles is adapting to the latest Government updates in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, prioritising guest health and safety.
We continue to follow strict health and safety practices in our restaurants and have increased the frequency of hygiene procedures to protect our guests. Staff wear gloves and masks in the kitchen while preparing food and undergo thorough training to ensure safe preparation and serving of food. Sanitising is super important. Finally, any staff member who is showing any symptoms will be asked to self-quarantine. Luckily, this has not happened.

There is stronger than ever competition to attract customers at this time – is the industry working together, or do you have ways to network as an industry, because if one restaurant does not get things right, it could negatively impact you all?

That’s right – it’s actually bringing the industry and community together (while being socially distanced).

Some delivery partners and shopping centre partners are springing into action to help launch support campaigns supporting local restaurants. For example, Deliveroo is currently running a $9.95 Pad Thai deal for us, where guests can order our Pad Thai for just $9.95 on Deliveroo.

Every bit of support helps us and is greatly appreciated. What we need from delivery partners is reduced commissions to help save jobs and restaurants.

How is your business doing?

We’re offering takeaway only and have set up new services accommodating guests’ needs in response to the latest Covid updates.

Business has been tough, so we’re more grateful than ever for the support of our customers! We encourage locals to keep supporting us by ordering takeaway and using the new delivery service, available at www.pnut.com.au.

At the same time we are staying true to our values and helping those in need.

P’Nut Street Noodles Windsor, Bulimba and Southbank remain open 7 days a week for takeaway and delivery, so we can continue to provide locals their Asian soul food fix and comfort you with tasty meals. Sadly, our restaurants in The Sunshine Coast are temporarily closed but we’re remaining hopeful and look forward to welcoming guests again soon.

Contactless Pick Up

A new initiative we’ve introduced is contactless pick up, where guests can call and place and order, or order online at www.pnut.com.au and select the ‘contact-less pickup’ option. Our chefs expertly prepare the meal as usual and when guests are ready to pick up, they can call us from the car and a P’Nut staff member delivers to the car – minimal effort and no contact.

Delivery

We’ve launched P’Nut Delivery at Windsor and Bulimba restaurants in order to support local jobs and provide a convenient delivery service for locals. The Bulimba restaurant covers the suburbs of Bulimba and Hawthorne while the Windsor restaurant covers Windsor, Newmarket, Grange, Lutwyche and Wilston.

As a special treat to those ordering through our P’Nut delivery service, we’re offering FREE DELIVERY! Just use the code “HOMEBODY” at the online checkout when ordering on our P’Nut website – https://www.pnut.com.au/order-online/?menu=standard

You can also order at the counter and takeaway or find us on Uber Eats, Menulog and Deliveroo.

How is this impacting your staff?

It’s been a tough time, as the lack of in-restaurant dining has seen less customers and a decline in job positions. We consider our employees family, and so we’ve set up P’Nut Delivery to help save jobs and provide more work for our staff. We are also supporting them by paying them all their benefits and helping them with rent assistance, access to any government or private support etc.

We believe now is the time to be supportive of our team and we pride ourselves on having a very positive and cheerful culture, so we will continue to serve guests with a smile, and have fun! One way locals can help support us is by continuing to enjoy our food at this time.

Other local businesses are welcome to contact The Westender with their stories.
