ballonWith the State Election only weeks away, pundits have written off the Electorate of South Brisbane as a “safe” Labor seat.

Australian politics, however, have undergone some seismic shifts lately, with the emergence of minor parties and independents holding the balance of power in the Senate.

Will we ever get to the European situation where constantly changing coalitions of parties and interest groups hold power?

To explore these questions, and others, we’re holding a Politics in the Pub community forum on Wednesday 28th January at the Loft, upstairs at 100 Boundary St, West End.

Candidates Jackie Trad MP (ALP), Jonathan Sri (Qld Greens) and Karel Boele (PeopleDecide) will be on hand to answer questions, and we’ll also have a panel of leading media and academic commentators including Drew Hutton (Lock The Gate). Micheal Cope (Queensland Council of Civil Liberties) and Sam Watson (Community Activist).

What do you think? Have the major parties had their day?

Come and have your say.
